About
The Winter Solstice takes place on Saturday, December 21, but we love the opportunity to integrate our Seasonal Service with our Sunday Celebration Service for a super-special-spiritual boost for your week and your whole winter season. Ths Winter Solstice marks the day of the year with the least number of daylight hours and the most hours of darkness.
Since deepest antiquity people have celebrated the Winter Solstice, in an effort to encourage the Great Mother to give birth once more to the Sun King. As the Winter Solstice marked the longest period of darkness in the yearly cycle, they yearned for the return of the Sun with its life-giving light and warmth.
At today's service, we celebrate in the spirit of those original celebrations. We prepare for our long, cold, dark Winter as we simultaneously herald the rebirth of the Sun and the coming of light and warmth. In doing this we express our gratitude for the gifts of the Sun that await us to help bring our lives into harmony with the life of Earth.
PLUS A PARTY!
After the service, Rev. James De Biasio and his Kitchen Angels serve up some Christmas cheer in the Fellowship Hall at our annual Holiday Party! So we can have an accurate count for the food we are preparing, please RSVP to Rev. JIm about your attendance to this party by clickng the "regster now" button.
