The Institute Building is located at 5419 Sherier Place, NW in Washington, DC.   Sherier Place runs parallel to and between Canal Road and MacArthur Blvd in the Palisades Neighborhood.   All three streets cross Arizona Avenue.  Plenty of on-street parking is available.

During Evening Rush Hours (2:45 - 7:15 PM)

1. Take the Cabin John/Clara Barton Parkway Exit just on the Maryland side of the American Legion Bridge.
   
   • Coming from the Maryland, the exit is marked Exit 40Cabin John Parkway / Glen Echo immediately after the River Road Exit.
   • Coming from Virginia, it is the first exit after the American Legion Bridge, Exit 41.   Take the Exit in the Direction of Washington.
2. Follow the Signs to Washington.
3. All traffic will be forced to take the MacArthur Blvd/ Glen Echo Exit.   When taking exit, merge and stay to right so as not to re-enter parkway towards I-495.   Stay to the right and follow the Signs to MacArthur Blvd/ Glen Echo.
4. Turn right at the three way Stop Sign onto MacArthur Boulevard towards Washington.
5. Go up about 3 miles and turn Right at a Stoplight onto Arizona Avenue.
6. Turn Right onto Sherier Place, the first street after you turn.
7. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

During Non-Evening Rush Hours

5. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

1. Take Glebe Road north and it will carry you across Chain Bridge.
   
2. As you cross Chain Bridge you are forced to turn right onto Canal Road.
3. At the 1st Stoplight make a left onto Arizona Avenue.
4. Turn Left onto Sherier Place.  Sherier is immediately after a footpath overpass as you climb the hill.
5. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

During Morning Rush Hours (5:45 - 10 AM)

1. After you cross Key Bridge make a Left onto M Street which becomes Canal Road.
2. After you pass the entrance for Georgetown University on your right, you are diverted onto Foxhall Road  (You cannot make a left at the Stoplight to continue onto Canal Road.)
3. Follow Foxhall Road and Make a left at a Stoplight onto MacArthur Boulevard.
4. After continuing on MacArthur Boulevard for a few miles, Make a left at a Stoplight onto Arizona Avenue.
5. Turn Right onto Sherier Place, the first street after you turn.
6. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

During Non-Morning Rush Hours

1. After you cross Key Bridge make a Left onto M Street which becomes Canal Road.
2. After you pass the entrance for Georgetown University on your right, Remain on Canal Road by making a left at the next Stoplight where Foxhall and Canal diverge.
3. After continuing on Canal Road for a few miles, Make a right at the Stoplight onto Arizona Avenue.
4. Turn Left onto Sherier Place .  Sherier is immediately after a footpath overpass as you climb the hill.
5. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

1. Take Nebraska Avenue east and south and continue throughWard Circle (American University).
   
2. Follow the signs for Chain Bridge.At the three-way Stop Sign, make a left onto Arizona Avenue.
3. Continue on Arizona Avenue past the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard.
4. Turn Right onto Sherier Place, the first street after MacArthur Boulevard.
5. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
   

1. Take Reservoir Road to MacArthur Boulevard.
   
2. After continuing on MacArthur Boulevard for a few miles, Make a left at a Stoplight onto Arizona Avenue.
3. Turn Right onto Sherier Place, the first street after you turn.
4. The Institute is one and a half blocks on your right between Galena and Cathedral.
